THIS IS TO GET OUR CLASS AND CRAFT DESIGNATED. IF THE NMB FEELS LIKE WE DO THAT WE SHOULD BE IN OUR OWN CLASS AND CRAFT AND WE COLLECT 50% CARDS WE CAN CALL FOR WHAT EVERY AMERICAN HAS THE RIGHT TO DO IN THIS COUNTRY CALL FOR AN ELECTION!!!!!

I HAVE PEOPLE THAT WON'T SIGN BECAUSE IF WE COLLECT 50% THEN WE CAN HAVE THAT ELECTION. THEY BELIEVE WE SHOULD HAVE OUR OWN CLASS AND CRAFT BUT  NOT THE RIGHT TO LET MAJORITY RULE. AS A VETERAN I FIND THAT SICK AND A SORRY EXCUSE.

HERE IS THE BEST WAY I CAN EXPLAIN WITHOUT WRITING A BOOK BECAUSE IT IS SO COMPLICATED BY RAILWAY ACT RULES

I have been asked to explain what we are doing this time and what is different from the other times. I hope I can put this clearly enough that when I call your station and leave a message to go to www.fedxmx.blogspot.com  this will answer any questions. I plan on trying to call as many out stations as I can and let them know of this site if they don't know already. It would take to long to explain what we have done and what we are doing now in order to get more cards.

Ever since FedEx had their own special law passed back in 1997 which put them under the railroad act that is for airlines and railroads. If you wanted to vote in a third party to represent you this law makes it almost impossible to do because you have organize nationally instead of locally if you were under the National Labor relations board. UPS since they started as a trucking company fell under the NLRB which was much easier at the time to organize locally with the rules they have to go by. FedEx put us under the Railway act because they knew it would be almost impossible to organize with so many employees all over the country. Not only does that make it difficult you have no idea who you have to collect cards from.
The Pilots because of what they do the company felt that they are in their own class and craft so all they had to do was collect 50% cards from only the pilots and then be able to have a democratic election for union representation.
We on the other hand due to other airlines having put their mechanics with baggage handlers and cleaners and anyone who worked around or on the aircraft set presidence that it should be that way with us. I feel as many others that we are not like other airlines that carry passengers and we don't have baggage handlers and we should be in our own class and craft. As with the pilots we carry airman certificates and with our A/P and FCC license's it should be a no brainer that no one else does what we do. Unless we ever get that officially designated through the National Mediation Board on this matter, every attempt at organizing at FedEx after 1997 was not going to happen.
I started last July 4th trying to spread the word with only this website and word of mouth that we needed to get officially on the record who is in our class and craft. I had to post on here that we only received 500 or so cards and that I was tired of trying to help those who won't try to help themselves. I know the company watches this site because I can track everyone who does and with over 46,000 hits on here they as I believed that we had a great chance of getting this done. I know they know we are very upset over how we have been treated over the years and with loss of benefits and our rules never being the same from person to person. I believe it does not take a rocket scientist to see the reliability numbers show the lousy morale we have. I knew I was playing a game of poker here with them thinking I was holding a royal flush since we had so many hits on here and how upset everyone was. My problem was as we headed into the one year mark when even those cards would expire that I was holding not even a pair of 2's.
When on here I read people saying that word is going around we collected easy over 1500 cards that would have put us way over the 50% mark I had to let out the truth. The truth being we can spread rumors faster and further then we can collect cards to help our own group.
I wrote on here I was done with this. After close to 9 years trying to help those who won't even try to help themselves I was throwing in the towel. I never quit anything but I felt that just by the company thinking all these years that we could stick together that I know stopped them from taking more than they already did. I Know we got our jump seat back and the biggest raises because we had brought President James Hoffa down from Washington and the Teamsters to help change the law I spoke of earlier. This raise I hear we have coming in October, funny how they alway's announced it in October but we never got the money till the next march or later. Many agree with me that this helped and many anti union guys think we got it from the kindness of their hearts.
I wanted to tell them on here I was done and that the Mechanics have spoken and said they must agree with all the changes and decisions you have made here because they would rather have that then someone in their corner fighting for them. I feel horrible for the guy's that did send in their cards and who always stood by me and what I was trying to do.
Right after word got out that we only collected 500 cards (and I made it clear this was just to get class and craft designated no union involvement) I started getting emails and phone calls and comments on here to not give up! That many had admitted that they thought it would be a slam dunk and that so many others would be signing cards hell they won't need mine. Memphis did the worst and that is our biggest station yet the out stations did the most. I got some telling me that they would sign if the Teamsters name was not on the bottom of the card. I find that a weak excuse but hey you never know. I hear what I have to sign another card? yea one once a year, I know that will kill you! I already had two in my shop that never signed said they would with the new card that says FedEx AMT Association instead. Maybe there was some truth to that. I decided to extend this till October 1st and if we don't get 50% I am forever done with ever sticking my dick out to help the AMTs here.
That is it, I will try every weekend to call some stations and leave the website name so no one can say we did not know about this. I have already gotten emails and comments on here that guys are taking control and collecting and passing out cards here in Memphis and Indy and LAX.

WE CAN'T AFFORD TO BE FUIGM'S ANYMORE!! PRONOUNCED (FYOU-GUMS)
F&$K YOU I GOT MINE (THEY DIVIDED AND CONQUERED LONG ENOUGH WITH SOME GETTING MORE THAN OTHERS DUE TO TIME AT FEDEX)

ALL I KNOW IS NO MATTER WHAT AFTER OCTOBER 1ST IF WE ARE NOT CLOSE I WILL SHUT THIS SITE DOWN AND LET FEDEX KNOW THE MAJORITY SEE'S IT YOUR WAY.

Tom, greats news about the card signing efforts! This is the way to do it. Communicate and pass cards to everyone you know! Your efforts are not going unnoticed by many of us here in Memphis. My dad is a FedEx pilot and told me this is how they did it. A lot of guys in Memphis don't know about this site. We all need to pitch in and let guys know what we are doing with the association.

The company had no choice but to cough up what amounts to a small cost of living increase after it froze merits and further diluted our wages with a healthcare plan that is going to cost us all dearly. Don't let them fool you - they really aren't doing us any favors.

Also, earlier this week the drivers at a large FedEx Freight terminal in New Jersey who have caught on to the healthcare fleecing filed a petition for representation with the labor board in response. More terminals are expected to follow with healthcare being a driving issue.

Good to see folks starting to wake up to the reality that a contract is needed to hold on to the little we have left.

I was literally dumbfounded and blown off my feet to hear about treatment of employees down in FL reaching milestone years of service accomplishments (i.e. 25,30,35 or even 40 years) at this company, and they can't the proper recognition they deserve!

Speaking of 40 years @ FedEx, that particular employee has NOT even been given his "35 year award" from 5 years ago....? Other recent 30-35+ year retirees, leave without as much as a "thank you for your service" or getting their "well deserved" retiree awards/recognition.

So if you think that respect and fair/humane treatment is the norm throughout this company outside of the bigger stations (i.e. MEM, IND or LAX) don't you dare believe it! From what I am told by multiple very fine AMT's down in FL from every station down there, it is comparable to a concentration camp.....and upper management, don't give a FUCK!!

Even after they called the FedEx Alert Line with specific facts of abuse.......NOTHING changed?

So go ahead and think that FedEx Cares, when they never really care unless you have it in a Contract as the pilots do!!

Got nailed this month with new healthcare plan. $800 health care account the Company gave me a beginning of the year is long gone. Approaching $7600 out of pocket right now. Most of these costs would have been covered last year.

Wake up guys - we are getting screwed!

Just in case they try something silly against any of you guys.

Yep - we all got a nice fat pay cut last year which was cleverly disguised. Our health plan = sucks = wage reduction.

My manager told me to look out for more cuts this year and another premium increase which will off set what we are getting in October.

I am already at the out pocket maximum of just over $9k and its just August. That is $9k I have to pay for routine chiropractic visits and maintenance visits for my diabetes.

I second the earlier posters comment - everyone, wake up and take some initiative.

That is correct - confirmed the other day with our very own health care folks that we will see a 5% increase in our premiums and they are going to make us take a 1/2 hr health interview to get our measly health account money. All of your private medical information given during the interview will be open for the company to view.

Wake up folks!!!

The idea that we come together as our own association is the way to go. We must get the message out to everyone, especially to amts in Memphis and Indy.

If you would be interested in joining an organizing committee I am starting, please e-mail me at my private e-mail. (johnfrcraigjr@yahoo.com) We are going to set up more regional coordinator/communicators.

It's not fair to Tom to have him doing all the work. We need more folks out there to help. A lot of you I have spoken with are in favor of this but have not taken the simple step to send Tom a card at his PO Box. We all need to pitch in!

Please tell me that MEM & IND has set the woods on fire with signing cards and getting them sent in after Tom removed Teamsters from the equation?

After all, that was the "only" reason they weren't "on board" right?

Just want to make sure I'm getting the clear picture here, since it didn't have anything to do with the fact we've been raped of benefits to the point there's not much left to take!

October 1st will be here before you know it and I pray the numbers are there for us to move forward instead of backwards like we are going :-(

Yep. Damn straight. Our healthcare premiums are going up 5% next year and they are already watering down our bs healthcare account.

Not enough people knew about the drive. While this site is great, it only reaches a small portion of the 2500 amts in the craft and class.

As has been pointed out by other posters recently, we ALL need to get out there and spread the word. This is how the pilots did it. The FedEx Express AMT Association is a group dedicated to first getting the NMB to find we are our own craft and class based on FedEx's unique setup. Once the NMB finds in our favor, we can then go to the NMB, if we so choose, and demand and election like the pilots and protection like the pilots did.

We all must get out there and encourage folks to sign the new card so that we can move forward.

Hall and the Company both have more tricks up their sleeve. We have lost enough, it's now time for at least 1250 of us to actually give a damn and do something about it!

This is a no brainer - until we get the protection of a contract we are going to continue to see take away, after take away.

Our effective pay rate is one of the lowest in the industry when you take into account our pension and health care loses. Something to think about.

Some people act as though signing a simple slip of paper is a death sentence for your job or career.

Is it not worth exploring the possibility of seeing how the company will react toward us if we simply showed solidarity (as the pilots did)?

At that point each person would then re-evaluate the information to determine whether or not protection via a "contract" is the better choice........which I'm convinced there is no other choice!

Previous poster - well said!

If everything goes as planned, which union do you want representing us?
